Cody Glenn Rumors

It goes without saying that rumors are just rumors. But what is a rumor when you lie and admit to lying about a 3 game suspension your senior year. Why would you get cut loose with no speech or attention in the middle of your most important season of your life? Most people when they are innocent just tell the truth. But in this case what is it that he is lying about?

Why does he feel he needs to lie? I have heard rumors fly about recently alot, alleged rumors. I have heard some alleged heat down at the bars downtown at Brothers and Brass Rail from more than one person. I am not saying he is guilty or not and these rumors are not my own words keep in mind. I have no evidence whether true or false so keep that in mind but allegedly I have from existing students claim he was charged with sexual assault and it later it was dropped.

This could be wrong and sincerely I hope it is. But really to be honest this is the only one rumor I have heard besides the stupid ticket scandal. Either way lying at this point in time looks bad. Why would the University of Nebraska suspend one of its best football players if it wasn't something that could affect the program? Allegedly I also heard from an unknown source that the case was dropped due to lack of evidence. Again this is just a rumor from random students but what if it’s not just a bunch of BS? I hope this alleged rumor is just a rumor because if it’s not the Washington Redskins media will find out and the skins’ will cut him quicker than he can say ticket scalping. UNL is more than likely protecting itself and the character of one of its players by staying silent regardless if its ticket scalping, weed possession, or sexual assault. Let's see how long that lasts.

If I were Cody Glenn I would avoid the conspiracy surrounding him and come out clean. If he just tells the truth we all will forget, but if its something questionable it could tarnish his career. If UNL students rambling at bars about him (which is damn close to slander) is cool with him and he enjoys the haters by all means go on with the show. They are simply repeating the rumors we have heard, alleged quotes from random sources. And at this point in time I would like those sources to step fourth becasue if they do it would look alot more credible. If they don’t who will? I loved Cody's play and think he could be a great pro. If he can stop the bleeding his career will rise, if he can’t he will fall into the shadows that surround him…allegedly. The talk will only get worse and reporters are digging. What now....

Is Pelini better for NU than Solich?

Spring practice is done. The months of waiting now ensues in Nebraska and we in Husker land are left to sit and think about the future of our program. Most the Husker Nation is pumped for 2009. The defense is back, the QB situation is settled, and we have motivation. But one glaring question lurks about, "Are we better off with Bo Pelini than Solich?" Do we expect a Big 12 championship in 3 years? Do we expect a national title game appearance in 4 years? Nebraska is the same program that fired Frank Solich for going 10-3. This is the same program that fired its coach after appearing the National title game and a BCS game 2 out of his 5 years. Do you expect the same from Bo Pelini? I honestly question whether we can do this. Can you remember playing Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl and Miami in the Orange Bowl? It seems as if we may be close but not there yet. If we go 10-3 you would be happy right? But the next year you would expect improvement again, a step in the right direction-something better than Solich. You might even expect possibly even 12-1 or 11-2. Husker Football standards are never going to change. We have cemented ourselves into believing we need trophies and Big 12 championships. How close are we really to earning our level of success on the field or even Solich’s level of success? Maybe the better question is how close is Oklahoma State or Texas Tech? Are we still only 5th best in the league? Would Turner Gill have been a better choice? I love Bo's work ethic and also believe in fate. USC went through downtimes than came up. Florida went through down times than rose from the ashes. Oklahoma’s as well did the same. Is Bo our ladder back on top? If Bo succeeds will he stay? Remember Osborne himself almost left for Colorado. All these questions and we have to wonder if Solich would have done better moving our option offense hybrid to the spread option like Ohio? Only time will tell....

Patrick's 2009 Draft Predicitons

Draft Projection 2009

With the draft rapidly approaching and the need for Pro -Football to start again I have created my own big board for the first round. Mel Kiper and Todd McShay will be humbled by my accuracy come draft day. Now let's keep in mind that Raiders rule all dominion over every football team in the NFL so it goes without saying whoever they draft is great. Contrary to popular belief I hate Matthew Stafford. He will be a huge Tim Couch “like bust” and Mark Sanchez will be crazy good. Aside from this watch Detroit imploding with the first pick here is my First Round mock draft.

1. Detroit Lions (Record: 0-16) Jason Smith, OT, Baylor:
Stafford is not worthy of being the No. 1 overall pick, he was average against Florida and Alabama. Jason Smith is a sure fire staple to your line. Do not doubt the truth and go with the heat. Kiper and McShay love all the other guys but Miami did the right thing last year with Long and it paid.
2. St. Louis Rams (2-14) Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia:
Eugene Monroe is huge, but may be a bust in the mold of a Robert Gallery. Biggest concern is work ethic.
3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14) Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest:
He's a best of an OLB with smooth speed and combine highlights, which is why he is no brainer for this atrocious defense.
4. Seattle Seahawks (4-12) Mark Sanchez, QB, USC:
Sanchez is higher on the big board of Seattle than Stafford. If he didn't leave this year , he would have been the first or second pick next year.
5. Cleveland Browns (4-12) B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College:
Raji is projected by many to be the top defensive tackle in this draft. He recently tested positive for drugs but nobody knows which one's...Still damn good player.
6. Cincinnati Bengals (4-11-1) Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech:
Ocho Cinco wants out and we already know Housz is gone. The stress fracture in his left foot is a concern only for his 40 yard dash. He boxes out like Barkley in the paint on post routes. He is plain nasty.
7. Oakland Raiders (5-11) Andre Smith, OT, Alabama:
Smith won damn near every lineman award in college last year gunning the left side for Bama'. I hope 5 years from now everyone will dread the day they slept on this guy. Hopefully, he'll be a hog molly for the ages for the raiders and provide depth protection for JaMarcus and RUN DMC.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11) Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia:
I am not sold on this guy at all. But Jacksonville needs depth behind Garrard and a back up plan if he busts. He can make the throws but hasn't impressed when expectation are high, ala 2009.
9. Green Bay Packers (6-10) Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri:
Maclin was born into the spread which could hurt his development. He ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the combine but the guy runs faster in pads it seems like. He would be a great addition to an offense that could break out next year.
10. San Francisco 49ers (7-9) Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas:
He is more of an outside linebacker than a DE in my opinion. He is athletic and could fit the mod of Julius Peppers. It looks as id he would be a perfect compliment to Patrick Willis.
11. Buffalo Bills (7-9) Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State:
Maybin is a hybrid very similar to Orakpo. He was owned against USC and Ohio St. which is a concern. But with the right coach could be an All-Star.
12. Denver Broncos (8-8) Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU:
Jackson has pretty much been stamped into place here. McDaniels sucks so bad, he truly is awful. No QB in return for Cutler through this draft is unacceptable out of the first two rounds.
13. Washington Redskins (8-8) Brian Cushing, OLB, USC:
Cushing's power and strength could make him an ALL PRO. With Haynesworth getting signed he could be an instant splash.
14. New Orleans Saints (8-8) Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State:
Reggie Bush cannot do it alone out there. McCallister got beat up and ran out. It’s funny how RB's get dealt and done in the NFL so quick. That's my only concern with this pick, another big injury and he is done.
15. Houston Texans (8-8) Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee:
The guy is huge and is getting a lot of hype due to comparisons to fellow Vol Haynesworth except a slimmer DE type. The motor is there but he started just one year. Jury is out and looks like a slight risk to bust.
16. San Diego Chargers (8-8) Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia:
Frankly his 40 was slow. But you cannot depend on injury prone LT and a small undersized skat back like Sproles. He has the potential to be 1500 yard back.
17. New York Jets (9-7) Percy Harvin, WR, Florida:
He ran a 4.4 on hurt ankle. It’s guaranteed this guy is a 4.3 healthy. One of the most slept on players and a huge reason Florida won two national titles. Healthy he goes ahead of Maclin.
18. Denver Broncos (from Chicago) (8-8) Rey Maualuga, LB, USC:
The guy is supposed to be a little slow for LB. But he reminds me of a certain Steelers safety from USC. He plays hard and hits like Ray Lewis. I think he is guaranteed impact player.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7) Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas St.:
This is the worst pick of the draft. Freeman looks like a poor man’s Jamarcus Russell. He looks dumber than a bag rocks too. He has never won and is overrated as anyone I have ever seen.
20. Detroit Lions (from Dallas) (0-16) Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois:
Detroit should choose value and in my opinion Vontae is a need position of high value. The defense of the Lions last year was the worst in the NFL. First round corners rarely bust.
21 Philadelphia Eagles (9-6-1) Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland:
HE was the fastest player at the combine this year. That’s enough for McNabb to Mcbitch about and get his receiver.
22. Minnesota Vikings (10-6) Everette Brown, DE, Florida St.:
Jared Allen and this guy together would be a nice one two punch. Only problem is he looks alike Vernon Gholston last year. Who is Vernon Gholston? The busted TOP 10 pick from the Jets last year. Not one sack.
23 New England Patriots (11-5) Clay Matthews, LB, USC:
He works hard and has character. That is the only thing these guys draft on.
24. Atlanta Falcons (11-5) Malcolm Jenkins, CB/S, Ohio St.:
They need a shut down corner and Malcom is the best player left on the board besides Oher.
25. Miami Dolphins (11-5) Michael Oher, T, Mississippi:
He started 47 straight games in college. Enough said.
26. Baltimore Ravens (11-5) Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut:
Baltimore is built on defense and they released McCallister this year. Somebody has to replace the All-Pro corner.
27. Indianapolis Colts (12-4) Eben Britton, T, Arizona
Peyton needs more protection after loosing in the first round of the playoffs last year. The more protection Peyton has the better results for the new coach.
28 Buffalo Bills (from Carolina - Phila) (7-9) Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut:
Everything and anything they can add to the offense out in Buffalo to help TO. They are in win mode now.
29 New York Giants (12-4) Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers:
Plax is gone and this pick might be traded for Boldin or Edwards. If they did trade it they would have to package it with a third rounder and seventh.
30. Tennessee Titans (13-3). Peria Jerry, DT, Mississippi:
Haynesworth is gone so its time to re-up the middle of the defense. Best defense tackle in football is hard to replace but this will do.
31. Arizona Cardinals (9-7) LeSean McCoy, RB, Pitt:
Hightower is not the answer at halfback. James will be gone and McCoy is a stud.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma St.
It’s just another weapon for the best team in the NFL. Pettigrew doesn’t block great but he is an Antonio Gates mold.

Spring Game Recap

SPRING GAME RECAP
It was congested and hot. There were plenty of voluptuous women to be gawked at and $3.00 Pepsi 20 oz. Yes, sir, the spring game was a scrimmage in spring for football addicts and children. Best part of all this hoop-la was the recruits. They were stunned. I sat and watched these cats. Bunched together like cattle, they stood in amazement. You have got these 18 year old guys getting asked for autographs on husker endorsed footballs, a team they don’t even play for. But the craziest part is the number of people at the game. One recruit was at Pittsburgh’s spring game last week which pulled a measly 7,200 fans. Now some will say the Husker reverend don’t come out as much when were good, we support when the program is in question. I don’t disagree considering the spring game for 1997 had like 26,000. I would take a gamblers guess that Nebraska is going to have some damn good recruiting classes in the near future. The way the program is feeding this game as a recruiting tool is beautiful. I know of no other program in the country that has this type of loyalty. Here is my take on the game position by position.

QB: If we get caught in a position this year where Zac Lee is hurt will become very limited on offense. But I do not think this is a bad thing. Latravis and Cody are mobile. They are both fast and commanding. One throw Latravis threw against his body while jumping was downright sick. Zac Lee does not have that kind of arm strength I can guarantee. Cody Green has a menacing presence. Just looking at the cat you can tell he is big time. How more people didn’t go after him is beyond me.

WR: Holt was up and down. Niles Paul was on the sideline which is a good sign. We need him by the looks of the no names right now. Holt and Paul would be a good combo to suit the running game. Kinnie looks impressive as a stand up WR. In fact he might be the best one we have. He is 6 Ft. 3 and built like a rock. He looked like a damn good recruit from the sideline.

RB: Collins Okafor of Omaha looked nice on his 33rd yard run. But Helu didn’t play and that’s fine. Castille is a freak looking back. He might be the best damn back we got. If he doesn’t put the ball on the ground we will mash D-lines across the nation. I think beating the piss out of a defense will eating the clock is our best look. The LB’s looked like a deer in head lights every time he lowered his shoulder.

OL: It’s hard to tell with a bunch of green jerseys on the field. I am not a fan of moving guys around all the time. I think we have a lot of concerns on the line and Bo is not addressing it yet. Jaivorio Burkes injury/illness doesn’t seem to bad. He and best bud Niles Paul hung out together the whole game and he looked big. He hasn’t lost as much weight as people say he has. 300lbs. is still damn big.

TE: Ron Brown’s speech at halftime was a bit crazy. Kids were like “Why is this dude yelling?” I respect the anti drug campaign and all but wow he was amped. McNeill and Young look to be pretty good. I am not sure how much Cotton will get on the field other than blocking scenarios. This spot is well coached and we have tons of depth.

Special Teams: Is there really anyway to evaluate punting and kicking? Adi Kunalic shanked one and with Henery kicking I have no worries whatsoever. See Colorado game 2008.

D-Line: Green jerseys answered nothing for questions for me with DE’s. It’s going to take a live game to figure out this position. Barry Turner looks big and strong but I really couldn’t tell if he was going 100% yet. We need him against teams like Mizzou and VT. Mizzou is going to be good and a pass rush is fundamental against offenses that run spread.

LB: Mark my word Will Compton will start ahead of Phillip Dillard. Everyone is trying to find a reason this guy is not favored to start and again it’s simple. My man is McValued Mealed out. Heavy and slow is not something you want at LB. Look at Curry from Wake Forest. He is going to be the 3rd pick for a reason. Speed kills at every position in the game. He is crazy slow guys; Dillard needs some creatine and hydroxycut. Will Compton come on down…..man’s game bitch.

Defensive backs: Prince Amukamara and Anthony West got a lot of reps. Where the hell is Anthony West? Its early but dude wasn’t shut down. ACL’s take time to recover from and his 40 yard dash is going to be the last thing to come. Rickey Thenarse and P.J. Smith are slept on. Rickey Thenarse has all the talent in the world and personally I pray this cat is an All-American. I have been through a lot myself in life and when I hear guys like this grinding I pull for him. We trade war stories, Rickey, jealous haters we despise, look in our eyes. Big ups to you guy and I know your going to pull through.

Coaches: Noting to much from the coaches other than they rocked shorts. I didn’t see anything to crazy from Bo and company. I wish somebody would shoot the hotdog gun at Herbie. Damn that would be funny. Hopefully not close range; it would leave you “no country for old men “from a Weimer. The highlight of the day for me was the Milf sun tanning next to me. The sun came out in the second quarter and she pulled down her top to where you could see the bra tan lines. It was pretty damn hot and she knew I was looking. Overall I am happy with the way we look but don’t expect us to go into Florida or somewhere crazy and win. We are TOP 15 talent but not a TOP 5 team. We will beat a team or two we shouldn’t beat but we could loose to a couple of jabroni’s also. 10-3 and I will be damn happy man.

Nebraska Spring Game 2009

Another spring game…oh joy. The spring game is back and thank God for Beau Bridges being gone. Bo Pelini has instituted a draft of some kind for the game. It’s guaranteed that Green Jerseys will be rocked by all QB’s. This means that it will not be full speed and this game is still the most completely overhyped scrimmage on the planet. No official word yet but the game is not sold out. Here is a Pre Game breakdown of each position and what we can grow to expect and worry about as the year goes on.

Offense

QB: We know Zac Lee is good. In fact I have no real desire to see him play. Cody Green and Latravius Washington are all I care about. They both are mobile and both like to run. But Pelini said he wants to prevent them from being mobile. The defense has had a lot of picks at practice. It’s about time to see whether or not these guys are accurate or do we have an old game of “Dunk Hunt” (NES) on our hands.

RB: Who is third string? I heard its Clinton Childs but I could be wrong. Lester Ward seems like a good name to insert here. Lets be honest…it’s all about Castille. I want to see some damage and he looks like he can inflict it. No blown ACL’s though, we got enough broken mannequins for one year.

WR: Chris Brooks from what I remember last year has hands of stone. He looks good and has a sexy WR name but dude has got to improve to be any kind of factor. Menelik Holt has also got to step up. It would be great if we had a No.1 reciever this year named Menelik Holt.....................you hear me Menelik?

OL: Is Andy Christensen worth a damn? He has been overhyped up until this point and we need guy to step up. Ricky Henry sounds like the real deal. He is a fighter and anybody resembling Tyler Durden of Fight Club on the field is a friend of mine.

Special Teams: The only guy I care about on special teams is the Wedge Buster. I love you man, I love your work.
Defense

DL: Barry Turner, please show me one hit on a Green Jersey. Just one…I am not asking much. I need just a little Ultimate Warrior top rope action. Clear out the cob webs by clearing out someone elses' cobwebs.

LB: Phillip Dillard has been getting hated on recently. I wonder if he has gained weight or is just a hell of slow LB. My guess he is just hell of slow and gets destroyed in space against spread sets. I witnessed it first hand last year against Mizzou so it’s not totally unexpected. You cannot have a 4.9 LB in space against a 4.3 WR. You will get burned faster than a drunk nympho with a candle.Thomas Grove is supposed to be pretty damn good on the contrary so watch out for No. 41 for the Red.

Secondary: Anthony Blue is supposed to be lightning in a bottle. He was anticipated last year to be our best corner and than went Spano with his ACL. I hope and pray he is a shutdown force and helps West to play free so he can jump on balls. We need more ball hawking this year and Blue might be the piece of the puzzle to help us provide it. Just for the record, I think Eric Hagg is going to be First Team All Big 12. He reminds me of Sean Taylor of Miami, built like him. He's fast and dangerous, contrary to O'Hanna Montana.
Coaches: I need about three Bo flip outs and one smile to tie me over till August. Those Bo flips out are like a heroin fix for me. Just one smile will do, don’t need too much of that pussy stuff on the field. It could turn the whole stadium into a damn techno bar if we don’t put a handle on that kind of stuff early. Thank God Bo is a man's man. Enjoy the game and remember, sneak your booze in your pants. Dump the bottle in the bathroom and get filthy. We need a ruckus crowd to pull Robert Marve to NU. We need him for insurance; he is our next umbrella policy.
